Yesterday, our 4th grade students shared a bus with Brownington, Glover and Orleans' 4th graders to venter to North Country Career Center for a 4th grade STEM fair.
The kids made 5 minute ice cream and learned how we get cream, vanilla, and sugar. They got to eat their ice cream, with added sprinkles, after they made it!
Their next session was health care. The students had an opportunity learn about health care professions, view x-rays, and learn about tools used in the healthcare profession, even learning how to pronounce sphygmomanometer! They then put together an interactive floor puzzle of the organs of the human body! Their favorite part was the floor puzzle and looking at the various anatomy models.
They then went to the technology center. In there, students got the opportunity to build our own solar powered circuit and test it out. The center leader told Barton we really did well because we were the only group to finish our circuits early!
We ended our day in the kitchen. We learned all about different measurements including liquids, weight, volume, and density. We used our new found knowledge to measure different ingredients to make our own trail mix! We got the opportunity to enjoy the snack we made when we got back to school!
It was an amazing experience!

Whether they’re super silly, just plain colorful and funky, or maybe just mismatched- show your awareness for the few, the proud, the amazing fold with an extra set of the #21 chromosome. That’s why we celebrate on 3-21! If you were to look under a microscope at a chromosome, they look just like a pair of socks. So…Rock Your Socks this Thursday to spread awareness.

OCSU Faculty, Staff, Families and Students;
Please be aware that Monday, April 8, 2024 will be an Early Release Day for the staff and students of OCSU (Towns of Albany, Barton, Brownington, Glover, Irasburg, Orleans and Westmore) so that they may have the opportunity to witness the Solar Eclipse with their families and friends! We will follow our normal early release times for each school.
If you have questions, please call your child's school building administrator for details on release times.
The OCSU Faculty and Staff will remain at school until 1:00 p.m. on April 8th to ensure all children have been picked up by parents, walked safely home or have boarded our buses.
We wish everyone a safe afternoon! Enjoy this once in a lifetime experience!
