On May 8th, Barton’s 7th & 8th grade traveled by coach bus with Brighton’s 8th grade to Hulbert’s Outdoor Center in Fairlee. This trip was focused on teamwork and leadership development while they worked through the ropes course, zip lines and other activities. This was a VSAC sponsored event. Thank you to our GearUp counselor, Dylan Bertolini for making this opportunity possible.

On Wednesday, May 28, Glover K–3 students joined their grade-level peers at Barton Graded for an author visit and shared literacy experiences. Tanya Sousa, local author, read her story "Rescued", which is based on the true story of Tanya's dog rescuing her as a child. She talked with our students about what types of books they enjoy reading and the elements of story-telling. Students also engaged with literacy games and activities in our Barton classrooms.

On April 16, our students in grades 1–3 enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Colburn Farms with Green Mountain Farm to School! This visit was a wonderful opportunity for them to learn firsthand about maple syrup production and the traditional process of sugaring.
From tapping trees to seeing how sap is turned into syrup, students had a sweet time exploring and discovering more about this New England tradition.

8th graders worked with Art Laplante to design a side table. Students, Art and staff at E.M. Browns helped assemble the table, while students chose the finish and stained it. This process started in October and has finally completed! E.M. Browns donated all of the materials and a significant amount of time to complete the project.
8th graders will be raffling off this side table to earn money for their upcoming class trips. Tickets are $5 each and will be on sale from April 11 - May 3. The drawing will take place at the end of Barton's Craft Fair on May 3.

OCSU Districts: Reconfiguration Options: Bring your phone for interactive participation!

Don't forget about Math Night, it'll be fun for the whole family.
We have lots of door prizes to give away!

A little fun was had at Barton this April Fool's Day.
Ms. Doucet taught our kindergarteners about April Fool's in the morning but by afternoon when they received their "I Spy" sheet, they had forgotten about the trickery. Turns out, none of the items listed were in the pictures. Silly Ms. Doucet had them all stumped for a few minutes.
Ms. Bry came into the office to a missing chair - in it's place - a first grade seat.
Mr. Dobler headed out to recess duty and a few 7th grade students (with permission) turned all the desks upside down.
We love a good laugh. Tell us about your harmless little pranks from April 1st!
