On Wednesday, May 28, Glover K–3 students joined their grade-level peers at Barton Graded for an author visit and shared literacy experiences. Tanya Sousa, local author, read her story "Rescued", which is based on the true story of Tanya's dog rescuing her as a child. She talked with our students about what types of books they enjoy reading and the elements of story-telling. Students also engaged with literacy games and activities in our Barton classrooms. On April 16, our students in grades 1–3 enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Colburn Farms with Green Mountain Farm to School! This visit was a wonderful opportunity for them to learn firsthand about maple syrup production and the traditional process of sugaring. From tapping trees to seeing how sap is turned into syrup, students had a sweet time exploring and discovering more about this New England tradition.
