The Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School Board is hosting a Public Tour of the Glover Community School on Thursday, September 12th from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Students had a great time hiking last Friday! Here's our group that hiked up Bald Mountain! Way to go students and staff! Some conquered their fears and went up the fire tower, shaking all the way! So proud of their resilience!

Hello Families, We have a beautiful bike trail on our school grounds that we are working on maintaining so students can ride during break time or club time. The Craftsbury Outdoor Center helped trim most of it and we are hoping some others are able to help us finish. If someone has a push behind string trimmer mower, Ollie says it's fairly easy or even just a weed whacker. If you are able to help in any capacity, please reach out to Wendy at wlittle@ocsu.org. Albany Community School would like to recognize Angelee Pion as their friend in education for the 2023-2024 school year. We convinced Angelee that she wanted to sub for us and at first she was hesitant. She even told Principal Thomas that she was not subbing in middle school. We soon realized she was a natural and with some persuasion, she faced the middle schoolers. She did great! She was subbing almost daily and easily learned how we operate as a team and school. She built strong relationships with all students and is seen as a positive and trustworthy adult. Angelee then got involved in other areas pertaining to schools. As her children played sports, she was then cheering for all the students she knew. When the baseball diamond needed work, she and her husband stepped up to help as well as a few other parents and staff. We have hopes that someday she will be a full time staff member, but for now we are excited to have her subbing with us. Thank you for all that you do Angelee for our students and staff. You are a positive member of our community and we are glad you joined us this year.

August 1, 2024 Dear Glover Parents, Guardians, Students, Families, Faculty, Staff and Community Members; Upon extensive review with the Board Facility Committee, Experts in the Field; we will not be able to house Glover's grades 5-8 at the Orleans Elem School as planned back in April for this fall. The Orleans Elementary School suffered a water main break back in mid-May. There has been a lot of remediation work, deconstruction and we are now in the reconstruction phases. Unfortunately, the Orleans School won't have full use of the bottom floor in this building, which resulted in us having to move a few classrooms from the bottom floor up into the second and third floors. We are hopeful that this will be temporary as well. Updates will be regularly shared at all EMS Board Meetings from the Facility Director and Facilities Committee. Considering this situation, I have been meeting with the EMS Administrative Team and members of the Central Office to determine our next best option to provide a safe space for a short term for Glover students in grades 5-8. The final proposal for opening school this fall for the Glover Students will be as follows: · *Grades K-2 will go to the Barton Academy with Jenna Lawrence, Principal. · *Grades 3-4 will go to the Irasburg Village School with April Brown, Principal. · *5-8 will go to the Grammar School located on the Old Stone House Museum property in Brownington, with JoAnn Martin, Interim Principal. The factors involved in making these decisions include but are not limited to: appropriate space for the students to be together with their class and their teacher if at all possible vs blended with another class; facility components such as connectivity, bathrooms, kitchen facilities and access to food; travel time from the central location of our SU/Orleans/Barton and the outdoor space for appropriate physical activity that is safe for all. I have been working closely with Julie Sicard, Butler's Bus, and we will be able to pick up all Glover students as we did last year in the mornings at their residence and use the Barton property to transition students to another bus to reach their temporary locations in Brownington, Barton and Irasburg. Fingerprint Open House Canceled! The Orleans County Sheriff's Department has notified us that the Fingerprint Open House scheduled for tonight (7/30/2024) has been canceled due to flood-related road closures. We will spread the word when the OCSD schedules the next fingerprint open house. Be well and be safe.

Opening for Lake Region Union High School Board Member from Glover The LRUHS board is currently seeking someone to fill a vacant spot on the school board. Candidate would need to be a resident of Glover. The school board meets every other Monday at 6:00 pm.
