Did you know that Barton Graded is a VSAC GearUp school? This partnership give us access to dedicated and highly trained outreach counselor. Their counselors provide group and individual information, support, and counseling on career and postsecondary readiness. Each counselor works closely with school personnel to provide access and opportunities to students Additional opportunities include: • college visits • career exploration and exposure • academic enrichment programs • financial literacy and financial knowledge The last visit we had from our VSAC Counselor, students watched an inspirational speech from Matthew McConaughey and reflected on how what he said applies to them and their own lives and how they deal with challenges. The goal of this activity is to help students identify and reframe a fixed mindset into a growth mindset. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68ZcE5GQP9c
