Dear Orleans Elementary School Community,
As you know, the resignation of Principal Shannon LaLiberty created a leadership vacancy at Orleans Elementary School. Following the posting of an interim principal position, a selection committee made up of Orleans Elementary teachers, support staff, a parent representative, and me participated in the candidate interview process. Following interviews and comprehensive background checks, I am pleased to share that the committee voted unanimously to recommend Mr. Matthew Allen as Interim Principal of Orleans Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year.
Many of you have already had the opportunity to work with Mr. Allen during his time serving as substitute principal. Throughout the interview process, committee members consistently highlighted his enthusiasm, empathy, professionalism, and ability to maintain both structure and positive relationships during a period of transition. His commitment to students, staff, and families, combined with his calm and steady leadership style, made him the clear choice for this role.
Upon hearing that he had been selected for the interim position, Mr. Allen said - “I am thrilled and deeply grateful to serve as the interim principal of Orleans Elementary School. From my very first days at OES, it was clear that this is a special place. As I had the privilege of working alongside the staff, students, and families over the following weeks, I came to understand exactly what makes this community so extraordinary. I look forward to continuing to support our students, staff, and families as we work together to make OES the safest, most inclusive, most caring, and most successful school it can be.”
As your Superintendent, I am confident that Mr. Allen possesses the skills, character, and leadership necessary to guide Orleans Elementary School through this transition year while maintaining a strong focus on student success and school improvement. Please join me in welcoming him!
Also, I recognize the importance of conducting a thoughtful search for the next permanent principal. Beginning in late fall, we will launch a process that includes opportunities for staff, families, and community members to provide input and engage with candidates. Our goal is to identify the strongest possible leader for Orleans Elementary School and have a permanent principal selected by February 1, allowing ample time for a smooth transition before the start of the 2027–2028 school year.
I would like to thank the members of the selection committee for their time, thoughtful consideration, and commitment to Orleans Elementary School. I would also like to thank the entire OES community for your continued support, patience, and trust throughout this transition. Orleans Elementary has a proud history, a dedicated staff, and remarkable students. I am excited about the year ahead and look forward to working together as we continue to support every student in reaching their full potential. Have a great summer!
Warmly,
Jackie
Jackie Ramsay-Tolman
Your OCSU Superintendent
