OCSU NAMES PENNY CHAMBERLIN AS NEXT SUPERINTENDENT

After a thoughtful search process that began in October and culminated Wednesday evening, the Orleans Central Supervisory Union board is pleased to announce that Penny Chamberlin has accepted the position as OCSU’s Superintendent, effective on July 1 with Bev Davis’s retirement.
“We’re thrilled to know that Penny will be the next leader of OCSU,” exclaimed Board Chair Amy Leroux. “She has a calm, practical approach that will continue to move our district and our students forward.”
Penny was one of three finalists selected by a screening committee created by the board. During the process of interviews, rigorous reference checks, and virtual forums for staff, faculty, and the public, the two other finalists withdrew their candidacies prior to meeting with the board for interviews on March 3. While the board briefly discussed its other options, they did not waste any time voting unanimously to offer the position to Chamberlin.
Chamberlin comes to OCSU after 14 years as the Principal/Director of the Central Vermont Career Center, which is part of the Barre Unified Union School District, although it serves students from 17 towns in 6 regional high schools. Prior to that experience, she spent 7 years at the Vermont Agency of Education as the Executive Director of the Vermont chapter of Future Business Leaders of America and 10 years in multiple roles at the Randolph Technical Career Center.
A lifelong Vermonter, Chamberlin has always been drawn to the NEK and is already looking to make her home in the OCSU towns. She received her BA from Norwich University and her Med from Southern New Hampshire University. She’s also a graduate of the Vermont Superintendents Association’s Leadership Academy.
