Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School District
The Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School District is comprised of seven towns and villages in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont: Albany, Barton, Brownington, Glover, Irasburg, Orleans, and Westmore. The district includes three K-4 schools, three 5-8 schools, and a centralized preschool, located at the Central Orleans Family Education Center in Barton.
School Choice
Beginning with the 2021-2022 school year, the Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School District will offer school choice to all students in grades K-8. This means that students will be able to apply to attend a school other than the school in the town where they reside. Choice is limited to the other schools in the District, which includes schools in Albany, Barton, Brownington, Glover, Irasburg, and Orleans. Busing will only be offered to schools in the town where the student resides. Applications will be approved or disapproved based on the criteria in the guidelines.
