School Nurse -- LPN

Brownington Central School
Brownington, Vermont

The School Nurse is an integral part of the Brownington Bridge to the Future. We are working on creating student achievement and success via a positive school culture. We actively teach Social Emotional Learning and strive to engage students deeply.

The nurse is expected to provide a full range of health services consistent with School Quality Standards, including:
  • Screenings, medication administration, first aid for acute illness and injury, assisting students to manage chronic illnesses and conditions, maintaining student records, and responding to emergency situations.
  • Establish and manage a comprehensive school health program consistent with the Vermont guidelines, regulations and statutes governing nursing and school health, and Brownington School's policies;
  • Collaborate with other professionals, team members and community providers in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and other school health activities;
  • Using the nursing process, collaborate with the parent/guardian and student, where appropriate, to develop and implement an individualized health care plan for the student;
  • Assist students and families to achieve optimal levels of wellness through health education and promotion;
  • Apply appropriate nursing theory as the basis for decision-making in the school setting while expanding knowledge and skills in response to the student health needs and participating in research;
  • And serve as a productive member of Brownington School's Community.

Qualifications
  • Must hold a current Vermont license as a Licensed Practical Nurse. This is a support staff position;
 Job Requirements
  •  Successful candidates will be highly qualified, have excellent interpersonal skills and experience in pediatrics, family medicine, community or public health.
  • LPN licensure
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Applicants must be able to pass a background check, including fingerprinting.
    Citizenship, residency or work visa required
