The Vermont Secretary of Education has directed us to follow our normal school calendar, which includes April break next week. All OCSU schools will be closed for remote learning from April 20-24, but meals will continue to be provided all week, and will be available for delivery or pick-up at the usual times. After this Friday, teachers and support staff will begin to offer remote learning opportunities again beginning on April 27th. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Please be sure to reach out to your school if you need support.

The Agency of Education has determined that we do remote learning through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Teachers have been working to set up learning opportunities for students, and schools are working to get devices to those of you who have requested them.
Teachers should have reached out to you, so that you know of their remote teaching and learning plans. If you have not gotten back to your child(ren)’s teacher(s), please do so immediately. We want the transition to go as smoothly as possible, and we need to know about any access issues you may have.
Students are responsible for meeting the essential outcomes their teachers have set, and the Agency of Education has mandated that we take student attendance for the remainder of the school year. We’ll do so by tracking student participation and the work they return to teachers.
We understand that it may be challenging for you to support your child(ren)’s education from home. Please know that we are here to help. Teachers will continue to assign, give feedback on, and grade student work. They will check in often. We have staff members who can troubleshoot tech-related issues, those who can help you create a schedule or routine to support learning, and we have paraprofessionals who will check in with students on IEPs. We can get through this together, and it is mandatory that students continue to learn through the remainder of the school year.
Please be sure that you know your child(ren)’s remote learning plan and that you communicate any questions or concerns to teachers. Thank you to our OCSU community for your support, patience and understanding as we navigate through these challenges. We look forward to the time we will all be back together!
